You can carry a full change of clothes and lots of gear, or just extra layers and food for several family members. Not so well suited to an individual just bringing lunch and a few extra items to the base lodge for a day. The boot holders on the side are a very nice feature, but there aren't instructions for attaching your boots. You need to use the backpack tightening straps to cross over your boots. Could be used for snowboard or ski boots. Waist strap and sternum strap if you're backcountry or carry a heavy load, The extra zip pocket on the top of the bag is good for goggles, sunglasses or isolating wet mittens at the end of the day. Could also be used as a fairly big hiking pack, though there aren't any easy access pockets on the outside.
