They accommodate a fuller calf but are not to big that they gap. The quality is great as is all the born shoes that I have bought. And I can't say enough about the good customer service I received from Sierra Trading. The boots fit a half size too big and they arranged the easiest exchange I've experienced from an online site. They offer immediate store credit and ship the product out right away so you receive it as your shipping the return item back. And they paid the return shipping too. Excellent! I also recommend buying a half size smaller in these from your normal size. :)

However, they are much too wide all the way from the ankle to the calf... by about 2-4 inches. I have average sized calves. I still wear them, but the width makes them look a little more on the cowboy boot side. I got them in black.
