The outer shell is good for cool (mid-40s to 50s) conditions. The inner fleece is fairly heavy. I've no doubt that this combo would be plenty warm on cold (30 degree-ish) days. The fleece zips in and there are also snap rings that hold it in place in each sleeve and the back collar.
The pockets are nicely lined with soft fabric. There's an inner pocket in the shell for ski goggles and another pocket for your phone or whatever.
I wish there was an outer pocket on the chest for my phone. -

I experienced every type of weather there, and this jacket did not disappoint. Hurricane winds and rain, ice, snow, extreme cold. You can compare with jackets 100's of dollars more easily. Don't waist your money on them. There's a saying in Norway: "There's no bad weather, just bad clothes." Get this jacket and you'll never worry about the weather.

At 25 degrees with 30+ mph winds and wet snow I remained warm and dry. I'm 6 foot, 175 pounds, and the XL proved to be the right size. I have multiple other Wolfskin products, and love them - especially since the brand is relatively unknown in the US and so you can get great products at a great price ...

I lived in Europe for a number of years and was familiar with Jack Wolfskin by their very good reputation, but I never owned one of their jackets until now. The fleece liner is REALLY comfortable and the shell is great vs. wind and rain. Every inch of this garment is well made.
As for fit, European sizes run small so it may be wise to get one size larger than normal. I'm 6'1", 215 and athletic so I usually wear an XL. I ordered the XXL and it's a great fit. While the sleeves are a tad long, they're not so long that anyone notices and the jacket is just roomy enough for additional layers underneath. An XL would be snug on me.
