Great gloves if you buy them for the right reasons.Reviewed by Anonymous from Munich, Germany on Thursday, December 18, 2014So these gloves were made by the folks at Outdoor Research with a wink - yes, functional gloves for skiing or climbing are not intended to be used to open bottled beverages. OR offers a complete line of very well made gloves for all manner of outdoor activities. But in certain parts of the world (northern Wisconsin & the U.P., anywhere in Bavaria, most of North Lanarkshire, and certain townships in Vermont ), if you can open a beer bottle without using a conventional bottle opener, it confers a certain degree of respect from your peers. That is what these gloves are designed for.
I bought these gloves just for the integral opener - not because I needed a great pair of skiing gloves. If you can use well-made, medium warm gloves and you're going to social events held outside in cold environs, these are the gloves for you. They work well for that purpose, and having the built-in opener is a good conversation starter on either side of the Atlantic.
Thanks to OR for making a unique product, and at the STP discount price, they are a bargain.
