Great boots but I feel the sizing chart is off order larger Mundo size - for example I’m a ten and I had to get 29.5 rather than suggested 28

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great AT Boots

While not in the featherweight category, these boots are still great on the uphill. Light, good range of motion and locked into ski mode they feel more like a traditional downhill boot compared to other AT options. Classic boot that's still around for good reason with updates.

i wrote a long review, it never made it to STP for some reason. so this is the short version. my left foot is 10.75 inches long. my right foot is 10.25 inches long. narrow heel. the 28.5 mondo fit after some mods to reduce volume. the 27.5 was too short for my left foot but just right for my right foot. the rubber on the sole in the front on one boot had to be trimmed to get the boot to go easily in my dynafit bindings. the trimming took 30 seconds with a sharp knife.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. some words regarding fit

I wear a USA 10.5 road bike shoe (Shimano), a USA 11.5 Altra running shoe , a USA 11.5 or USA 12 Hoka running shoe, a size 12 Asolo hiking boot. I have a narrow heel and my left foot is longer than my right. A 28.5 Maestrale ski boot is what i settled on after being unable to get a 27.5 to fit. To get the 28.5 to fit the way i wanted it to i had to put C pads on the heels and foam insole shims under the boot which i purchased from intuition (who makes the liners Scarpa uses). https://intuitionliners.com/product-category/tools-accessories/
You are probably thinking the 27.5 should have fit - all i can say is i tried for weeks before i gave up. The 27.5 were simply too short on my left foot (which is 10.75 inches long). My right foot the 27.5 did fit (it is 10.25 inches long). I thought about getting the left boot punched out but then i would not have been able to return them to where i bought them if it failed. The Maestrale had issues with one boot only getting into my Dynafit bindings until i discovered that the rubber under the toe on that side was excessive and hitting the binding which made getting the toe in the binding difficult. It took me 30 seconds to cut away the excess rubber and that completely fixed it. That is why i took the one star off. I am now happy with the boots they do exactly what they are supposed to and my only problem is remembering to lock them after i take my skins off. I can feel the left foot touching the front of the boot but no issues with pain. Happy skiing!

About Scarpa

Scarpa of Italy was literally "born in a barn" back in 1951. Founder Luigi Parisotto launched his footwear career in a small outbuilding, crafting handmade shoes for locals with a nearly fanatical attention to detail. After cultivating a flawless reputation among his patrons, Luigi eventually switched from work boots to mountaineering boots, and Scarpa boots were born. Today, more than six decades later, Scarpa climbing shoes and mountaineering boots remain among the very best in the sporting industry. By fusing modern technology with an old-world attention to craftsmanship, Scarpa shoes and boots provide superior comfort for adventure-seekers who demand the absolute best.
