Marc New York by Andrew Marc Garner Jacket - Leather (For Men)

Finding out exactly what kind of leather this jacket is made of reminds me of the time I asked what kind of "meat" was being served in a Korean restaurant.
It's "meat", was the answer, no species specified, (we were suspicious it might be "rover") There is nothing in the description and no tag in the jacket itself says from what critter[s] this is sourced from. My best guess is lamb skin, because it has a very soft,supple hand. I have always avoided lambskin garments because although the leather feels great, it does not have the tensile strength of cowhide, calfskin, deerskin,elk skin,buffalo etc and has a tendency to burst
a big tear if caught on something sharp.
I thought of just returning it, but the jacket is very well made, true to size, fits well and is nicely detailed. The description is incomplete about the "perforated seams" underarms. That is actually a whole 4-5" wide panel from the pit to the hem, as well as the yoke across the back shoulders that is perforated leather,
It is of dubious function and further weakens brittle leather [if these panels are made with Lambskin].
But then i remembered STP awesome return policy and customer service, the phenomenally low price I paid, and figured if I get a "blow out" sometime in the future, I can return it , so there is no risk for me to enjoy this very nice jacket.

When I ordered this jacket, it was not clear to me that the panel across the shoulders is in fact perforated. It looks kind of cool, but it was not what I expected. The photo of the back of the jacket shows what appears to be patterned leather, rather than perforated. A small difference, but important (to me at least).

Also be aware that it is on the slim fitting side. I ordered an XL as I always do, but this jacket fit me with very little room to spare, so if you are a bigger guy you may find it does not fit.

Very soft, well made jacket. It looks very fashionable and as if it cost much more than I paid. I would buy this jacket again with absolutely no reservations.
