5.0 out of 5 stars. perfect?

I've never been able to figure out whether I have a freakishly small waist or a freakishly large rear end, but either way, size charts were not made with me in mind. I've tried on a lot of hiking pants, specifically convertible pants, and these seem to be a good solution for the pear-shaped out there. At 34-25-38, I went with the 4. There is waist gapping, but the belt solves the problem. Yes, you could just use your own belt, but the one included is very lightweight and low-profile, which works well under my pack. I read some reviews on another site that complained that the zippers are too tight on the thighs. I was a little concerned about this, but when I hit the trail I realized it's not a problem when standing (i.e. hiking), and didn't really bother me much when sitting. So if you have particularly large thighs or if you spend most of your time in hiking pants actually sitting (around the campfire, in the car...no judgement!) these might not be the pants for you.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. bought for the pocket style

I had to return these. Wide pant legs, and way too long. There is a 12" zipper at the bottom of each pant leg so you cannot shorten them, unless you remove the zippers. Loved the top of the pants.

Nice fitting, and true to size. A little long, I'm 5'8",but have short legs. Wish they had a cargo pocket.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
