5.0 out of 5 stars. What more do you need !!!

I bought a Konic ii 3.5 last October for a fishing trip to Montana for lake run brown trout on the Madison River. We did a float trip down the Madison throwing big streamers with 7wt rods and sinking line using the Kelly Galloup method of fast stripping retrieves for really aggressive fish. Probably the most fun I have ever had trout fishing ! The big Browns slammed the streamers and fought like bonefish, but the Konic reel took it all in stride. Fish after fish, hour after hour, the reel never faltered. I personally can't ask any more of a reel. The drag is smooth and there are no surprises ever. I fished the reel for nine days straight and it's in my never get rid of section of fishing gear. I came home to Key Largo and since Sierra Trading Post is having a closeout sale on these, I bought another one... Come on, they're cheap $$$ for what you get ! I'm going to load the new one with floating line and take them out for bones and reds...

Buy one, or two before they are history. You will never regret it...

This is simply a great, well manufactured reel! Smooth, strong, sealed drag. Easily converted from the shipped left-hand retrive to right hand.
The .pdf and videos on Lamson's website are well made and thorough re this change and maintenance. Could not ask for better!

Outstanding reel with high backing capacity. Sealed drag is amazing, this is the same drag as the light speed and it rocks. No rats nest after a dunking. I would highly recommend this reel because there just isn't a better reel out there for the money. Get some before they're gone.

About Lamson

When Lamson designers and engineers set about to revolutionize fly fishing reels, they threw out the existing assumptions and started from scratch. Beginning with a blank piece of paper, they re-designed, re-thought, and re-tooled fly fishing reels to achieve a crucial balance and optimal performance. Lighter materials like titanium and polymers took the place of steel, wood and cork. Simplified designs meant fewer components, lighter weight and amazing longevity. Along the way, Lamson shaved so much weight from the reel that larger, better-retrieving arbors were incorporated into the design. They topped off their list of impressive advancements with a high performance, conical polymer alloy drag system. The result? Precisely machined fly fishing reels constructed from space age materials that are so light, they seem to defy gravity.
