5.0 out of 5 stars. Good product that worked for me

These were very comfortable when recently used on an 8 mile hike coming down from 10,700 feet where we woke up to 4 inches of snow on a late season backpacking trip. My feet felt warm and comfortable walking through the snow and slush. Good piece of gear to have in your kit.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Works Great

Does what it says it will do. Water stays out up to the band, of course, you shouldn't submerge your foot past the top of the sock, what would you expect? The inside is comfortable and does not have any spots that rub or irritate. I'll be walking many hundreds of miles in them soon and will update my review after that.

so far so good - these are merino lined but I would definitely use a liner sock for better comfort. Also note the thermal rating when you buy (only XL US13-15 were available to me but it's allowing me to use a midweight hiking sock before slipping these over for better insulation against cold. I'll be walking in slush at times).

I really wanted to like these socks - I mean waterproof socks how cool is that!

Good point- after two wearings they are keeping the feet dry at least through damp grass and puddles. Caveat I have not tried a stream crossing yet.

Bad points - the socks tend to slip down to the ankles. They also require a little adjusting when putting them on as the heel does have to be placed perfectly or they will rub. They feel tight, I'd say on the small side, but after three mile hike I had no blisters or hot spots.

Finally, they are not cheap, even on my favorite place to buy discounted merchandise.

I may revisit this rating once I've done a couple more hikes and done some serious stream walking, but for now waterproof boots work better for dry feet.

I had wanted to try these since I had heard about them at the Outdoor Retailer Show. I tried them for the first time while waiting in the early morning for a tree permit. The temperature was above freezing but I am usually a little chilly on the toes. The socks kept my toes toasty for the couple hours I was hanging out and talking with a friend. I am likely to buy another pair.

About Sealskinz

No part of a person’s body is more vulnerable to cold than the extremities, which is why Sealskinz socks and gloves have become so popular in the outdoor community. Even with a pair of waterproof boots, there’s still a chance that moisture will manage to get up and over the collar. In the outdoors, few things are more unpleasant than a soaked pair of socks. Fortunately, if you’re wearing a pair of triple-layer Sealskinz waterproof socks with a built-in waterproof breathable membrane, your feet will stay dry and warmer, even if your boots are swamped. You can get the same great level of protection for your hands with Sealskinz gloves, too. Stay dry and be happy with Sealskinz.
