I wear a 36 and I ordered a large. They are very much a slim fit. The waist is also high. Crotch zipper is a terrible design.

Water resistant- not water proof. The fabric is lightweight, and I'm not sure it would hold up to climbing. As others have mentioned, these pants fit very snugly, almost like tights. I ordered a full size up based on my waist, and they still fit much like my Mountain Hardwear running tights. This doesn't necessarily bother me, so I will be keeping them, but be aware...

They move with me well with no binding or chafing. I wear a large in every other brand but needed an extra large. I'm still getting used to the waist bungy but so far they keep the pants in place with just a little adjustment once in a while.
