If you're trying to go ultra light, get one of those strong plastic ones, or find a stick to dig a hole. But if you're not too concerned about weight, this is a great little shovel. Seems sturdy enough, haven't had to use it yet. Got it on sale for just under $2 so why not? The local outdoor stores sell these for close to $7.

This is a tiny shovel with a carry case that will fit nicely in your backpack. My boyfriend is the "real" outdoors man and I ordered 2 as a surprise (one for each of us). He was well pleased with the product and commended me on what appears to be a great find. It is small however, looks sturdy. We have not used them yet and when we do and if we are not pleased... I will resubmit a review.
