Most Helpful 5-Star Review

5.0 out of 5 stars. Quality Jacket

A good, quality jacket. Don't listen to earlier reviews which complain about its material and construction; it is solidly built and will keep the weather out. In terms of sizing I am 5' 10" with an average build and the M fits well allowing for layers underneath if needed, the sleeves are slightly long but I find that they are nice blocker for the wrist (especially when wearing gloves) and it helps keep the elements out. Only thing I would caution about is the warmth - if you are buying it for deep winter with constant temperatures lower than -10C (14F) I would advise looking for a jacket with heavier insulation. Otherwise it is nice jacket and will keep you warm and dry, definitely would recommend.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Great insulated jacket

I like just about everything about this jacket. Plenty of pockets, zippers are good, just about the right amount of insulation. My only complaints are about the sizing, and they are minor complaints, the sleeves seem long for the size I ordered (L) and the overall length of the jacket is a bit on the long side. There is velcro on the sleeves so the long sleeves are a minor complaint, and if you cinch up the inner waist drawstring you can effectively shorten the jacket to your preference. Again, its seems a bit large in both lengths, but works. I have other Mtn. Hardwear coats/jackets in size L and the fit just fine.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great jacket

I feel like I have to write a review for this jacket. I almost didn't purchase it because of earlier reviews. I don't understand why someone would describe this jacket as being "junk" or that the material "was cheap feeling." It is far from that. This is a fantastic garment. It is very well designed and made. I live on a mountain in northern Vermont, not far from Mt. Mansfield. I work with children so I regularly am playing in snow. I purchased this jacket looking for an early and late season winter jacket. My down MH parka I purchased five years ago (one of the best purchases I've ever made) gets me through the heart of winter comfortably. The Snowpulsion will be great for temperatures in the 20's to 40's. I bet with a Monkey Man fleece or a good wool sweater you could feel comfortable with this jacket into the teens. I think it has just the right amount of insulation. Anymore and the jacket would be too bulky; any less and you would feel cold. Yes the sleeves are a bit long, but they have Velcro cuffs so you can effectively shorten them. The longer sleeve length allows you to tighten the cuffs over large gloves and still have good movement in the arms. I love the fact that there's no Velcro on the front of the jacket (other than the sleeves). I wear my hair long and don't like it when it gets caught up in the Velcro on my jacket. I also love how there's no dangling draw cords. All of the draw cords are essentially built into the jacket, so you won't snag a branch as you're moving through the woods. The design of this jacket is very well thought out. It has a lot of pockets and features. The pockets are all well sized. The stitching is flawlessly executed. The material is perfect for playing in snow. I also prefer the side ventilation to pit-zips. You can dump excess built-up heat quickly, and when you're putting on the jacket you don't accidentally try putting your arm through an open pit-zip. I am really delighted with this purchase. Sizing wise, I'm 5' 10.5" and 180 lbs with a 30" inseam. I always feel comfortable getting men's large. The large for this jacket fits me well. This jacket is "bomber", as people around here would say. I don't write reviews often, but felt like I had to balance out the more negative reviews of this product. This is a great jacket. I get why it retails for nearly $400. Thank you Mountain Hardware, and thank you Sierra Trading Post.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Not What I Was Looking For

I gave this a 4 star rating, as the jacket itself appears to be of high quality and is attractive in an understated way. Unfortunately, while the product is insulated, it is not nearly as insulated as what I am looking for. Returning it.

The zipper would stick. Thought the material was cheap feeling. Returned.
