5.0 out of 5 stars. Comfortable

I've only worn these 1 day, but good so far. I had tried the lower cut version of this boot and found the toe box pretty tight for a square toed foot. These are more like what I expect from Adidas. I don't find the ankle chafing that another reviewer experienced. For me, it's just firm support. These are incredibly light and may not last forever, but my immediate impression is that these are very comfortable.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Loves These Hiking Boots

This is my 3rd pair of Adidas Swift R Gore-Tex shoes / boots. I have both models. Waterproofing on these boots performs true to form. Super comfortable and lightweight. These are light enough for trail running, but I wouldn't recommend the boots as a full-time trail runner for long distance. (The low-cut Swift R Trail Runners are better suited for distance.) The soles offer great traction on all surface conditions. The stiff soles are important for stability and comfort on rough terrain. These boots are style-y enough to wear as a casual shoe for work as well.

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. Good workmanship, abominable design

The killer flaw is the top rim of the shoe, which chafes the ankles quickly and badly. Lace adjustments might help, but lace adjustments are limited.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Better than the 1st impression

These were so tight out of the box that I thought I would have to return them. It took 1 hike to break them in & I now wear them whenever I think they'll be adequate. It's not possible to tighten them at the ankle while leaving room below (obviously) so they're not suitable for scrambling or for prolonged steep descents. The soles have good traction on all terrain. The factory insoles have good arch support so I don't substitute aftermarket ones. They go on & come off almost as fast as a pair of loafers.
