It easily covers the ears without "smothering" them. It is not very warm, but works great for running in cool temps. It breathes very well, to keep head dry.

It keeps you warm while moving moisture away. I use it while skiing and it works great. The outer shell is a bit water resistant and certainly wind proof. No, it's not ideal if you're out in a blizzard just walking around. But for activities when you're moving and want some protection but not much it's perfect.

Packs small in your chest pocket and you can pull it out at the summit/base/wherever lunch is. I spent 2 weeks in Alaska with it. The only complaint is that it fits a little tight. Good for on the mountain for most of the day, but if you wear it for several hours your ears might hurt (the way they do when you've had headphones on too long).
