I will give the pattern 4 stars because it is not my favorite of all time but still 4 star worth and definitely worth the very low price. I probably could have paid double what I did pay and I still would have been happy with them. The 5 stars is because of the fit. I don't like really long board shorts (my white legs need a little sun) but I also don't like the high end designer trunks with a 3" inseam (nobody wants to see that much man leg). These come a few inches above the knees and fit nice for a 6'2" guy. They also have an extra piece of material in the fly to help give that ken doll non gendered look. Generally I wouldn't really care but I have three young girls that I'm usually with at the pool so wearing trunks that are too tight can lead to a lot of super awkward anatomy questions and comments. All in all another great buy. (I usually take a 32" waist in jeans but went with the 34 waist and it fit perfectly)
