Except for the fact that the Women's Short comes with Small shoulder straps. Here's the deal: Granite Gear doesn't really make men's and women's packs; they make men's and women's waist belts that go on either Short or Regular sized packs. (That's why the men's and women's packs are exactly the same colors.)
Waist belts come in a variety of sizes, as do shoulder straps, for a completely customizable pack (if you order it from Granite Gear). What you get when you order this "Women's" Leopard 58 is a Short torso pack, a Medium Women's waist belt, and Small Trim shoulder straps (the Trim part refers to the weight load; you'd never need Wide straps on a pack with capacity of only 53L).
According to Granite Gear's website, the Small shoulder straps are for someone with a 30-34 inch chest. Their W Leopard 58 AC pack comes standard with Medium shoulder straps and a Medium belt. Don't know why STP's doesn't as well, though perhaps that's why I paid so little. Will be less of a bargain if I have to spend $40 on new shoulder straps, but even so I think I did okay. Just wish it came with the Medium standard. Probably the Regular does, but I don't have an 18" torso and that's why I'm replacing my older Granite Gear pack.
Lots of great features on this bag. Met several people on the JMT recently sporting this ultralight model, so even though the capacity isn't huge, it forces you to think small and I'm coming around to the thinking that that's a good thing. I don't ever want to haul more than 40 lbs anyway! For the record, fits the bear can that STP nicely. My down bag is just the right size for the bottom of the pack too.
