Nubuck is a type of cowhide leather that has been rubbed or sanded to achieve a soft surface and supple feel. Although the surface of nubuck bears a similarity to suede in both look and feel, suede is crafted from the inner side of a hide, whereas nubuck is crafted from the exterior portion of a hide. This process makes nubuck thicker, stronger and more resistant to wear and tear. Like suede, nubuck is also subject to easy staining and requires pretreatment or stain protection to prevent discoloration, stains and moisture damage.
