Although there are some noticeable minor defects, they are somewhat similar to the normal ruffs & scuffs that you will get from regular wear. The reasons why these boots are "seconds" will not be so obvious anymore after wearing them a few times. These "defects" are no big deal, & these boots look great and are comfortable to wear for long hours.
Kudos to STP for bringing these "second" boots at a good price point. -

I’m a size 7W/5M so I bought 4.5M. Such a handsome quality boot. Wore it through a rainy week and kept my feet dry and comfortable.

Great Boots, They do run large/narrow though.Verified Buyer Reviewed by MalandroFarmer from NM on Friday, January 11, 2019I love these boots and found them comfortable from the get-go, no harsh break in period required. I haven't really put them to the test since winter is kind of my off season, but they do well for long days of digging, walking, working and mucking about in snow and mud. I've worn them for 12+ hours on my feet and not had any problem with blisters or hot spots, however they do not cushion your feet like a good athletic shoe would, for that you might need an insole. The traction tred provides just enough grip for me, good on ice and mud but not so much that you can't easily wipe them clean to come inside, they do wear quickly but you can't have everything. The sizing is definitely not what I'd expect though; I wear 11.5 in Vans, 11.5-12 in New Balance and 12 in my Ugg Chukkas. These fit me near perfectly in 10.5 EE, maybe just a little wide in the heel, but definitely not too short and perfect in the forefoot. So as others have said: size down AT LEAST a 1/2 size and maybe go wide if you're built that way. As to the reason for these being seconds I see several little things that might have merited this designation but nothing I can't live with and without a pair of A+ to compare to I'm not sure what it was. My guess would be one of the speed hooks is placed slightly lower than optimal, purely a cosmetic defect but might be a dealbreaker for some OC folks... Overall, some of the best footwear I've ever owned, YMMV of course.

Likely they’re only on this site because Red Wing is discontinuing the round toe line in favor of the rover. Regardless, I’m super pleased with the shoes and with STP’s wonderful customer service
