Thanks to the other reviewer!Reviewed by Sigvarde from Vermont on Monday, July 24, 2017Mine arrived tightly wrapped, but after admiring what a lovely and high quality rug it is, regardless of the very low price, I realized mine smells too. My husband is convinced it's mildew, but I think it's the glue or some other chemical used in manufacture. I wonder whether that's why these otherwise gorgeous carpets ended up being practically given away at STP. Anyway, I was going to return it, but in view of the other reviewer's comments, I'll give it a couple of weeks (If I can keep my husband from taking it to the dump!) Thanks for the advice!

After airing out rug for several weeks - including placing the rug outside on my deck during dry sunny weather and flipping so that both sides were exposed to sunshine, the smell dissipated. I now have it in my bedroom, and love it. Colors are vibrant, yet subtle and soothing. -

I ordered the rug in the sage/pale orange and pale blue motif on an ivory background. The rug is beautiful, and I was very pleased at the Presidents' Weekend sale price. However, as I lifted it off my porch, I saw that the plastic it had been rolled in was torn. The edges of the rug were protruding and were damp and slightly discolored. When I opened the rug I was greeted with a musty smell. Not sure what to do about this. It's for my bedroom in a new home I'll soon be moving into. I hope that by leaving it open in my current home, it will dry out. Will try sprinkling some baking soda on it and hope I can get the smell out. If it weren't for the torn packaging and smell, I'd give the carpet 5 stars. I've been shopping at STP for about the past 20 years and have never had a product arrive in this condition. I have allergies and am not sure what to do about the disappointing condition the rug arrived in. The pattern is sold out, so asking for a replacement won't help. If the smell doesn't dissipate, I'll have to return it and ask STP to comp me the shipping as it was their packaging that failed.
