Fabric is thin but tough - a good choice for summer chores or hiking. Fabric is made to stretch a little. Notices this especially in the legs. Also noted that the leg openings are smaller than is common on larger waist sizes (a good thing). I tried two pairs, and waist seems about 1/2" - 1" smaller than nominal size. Rear pockets have zip close on one side, velcro on the other. I did not particularly like that, but it is more secure, so just a personal preference thing. I sent them back due to waist being too small for me, but would have kept them otherwise. Overall, I recommend trying them.
