A hiking boot would be an example. But in this case, I wanted a lightweight pair of shoes to wear specifically at the gym and nowhere else. Shoes to be worn while using exercise equipment and on the walking track. I wanted them to be light weight and have a medium thickness sole. I'd never owned a pair of Asics before and took a chance. It was a wise decision. They're perfect for the purpose. I normally wear a 10.5, medium width, but in this case I bough size 11 because I wear a medium weight sock at the gym. Also a wise decision. Fit is perfect. I'm not sure how well these shoes would hold up for general, all day wear, but for the gym, I expect a couple years service. Recommended.

This is probably their entry level shoe as it is not as flexible or as "cushiony" as a more expensive model, but it works just fine as a walk-around. These are "refrigerator white", so make sure you are OK with that before ordering.
