The large is slightly (about a half size) bigger than the medium, but still not a standard large (12-14). If you can go to the mall store and try on for size, I think you'd be happiest wiht the fit on arival. I could not be bothered, but did not mind the return process.

If you're a top heavy gal, you might be fine with your regular size, if you're even slightly hourglass or hippy, you might want to either go up a size or buy both with the plan to return one. I think these coats are also sold at macy's, so trying them on before buying is highly recommended if you are not happy with over ordering with a plan to return one.
