  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great quality and very adjustable

Just received the black Hurtta Casual Quilted Dog Jacket yesterday. I have a smaller (25lb) medium Australian Labradoodle (NOT an Aussie doodle) and really fretted over which size to get. I did a lot of calculations to come up with 40XL. Her measurements are Neck: 12.5", Chest girth: 23", Back length: 16". She's not a thick-chested dog, but I took a chance. Turned out the elastic button adjustment inside allowed for a more tailored fit in the chest/waist area. I would suggest you go by the back length more than the chest girth when selecting a size, as the back kind of curves over the dog's hind end. There's also a length adjustment if the jacket is too long, as well as a neck adjustment. I found complete fit instructions on the Hurtta website. Too bad I can't post a picture. My girl looks very stylish in her new Finland-designed jacket!

Love Hurtta products and this did not disappoint. Sturdy rope like, reflective agent woven in a plus for evening walks. Handhold and leash length comfortable.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Didn't do much for me

Bought based on other reviews but didn't strike me as a great design. The hand strap is comfortable but it only feels like it's positioned properly when I have my arm bent as if I were about to do a biceps curl or if I were holding a coffee cup (but if I were to be holding coffee while walking my dog it would surely be with the other hand). Not uncomfortable, just different and I think I prefer a regular leash. I do run sometimes but prefer the hands-free waist leashes for that purpose. Also, this leash uses the older style latch that requires using your thumb to unhook it from the collar whereas I prefer the quick snap attachment mechanisms now found on many other leashes.

Good things: the leash seems to be well made and depending on the dog some runners might prefer it over the hands-free running leashes that go around your waist.
