5.0 out of 5 stars. Everything I Wanted

I've been searching for a puffy coat and had some specifics in mind and also didn't want to break the bank. This coat is everything I wanted! I'm a hiker who lives in the PNW and wanted something that would be packable, water resistant, and warm. I did not want down, I don't like the smell, and this featherless insulation is perfect! I wanted a hood and large pockets and this coat has both. Plus the blue color is gorgeous! I'm a lady with hips and I got the large which was a little tight in my hips but I'd rather the coat by on the snugger side to keep out drafts as well as not make me look like a marshmallow - it has a feminine cut and is flattering. I would also agree that the sleeves are a little long but I'm sure it will be since to pull over my hands when it gets cold. Fall has just started so I haven't had the chance to really test this out in the elements but I can tell it will be nice and warm. I feel like this coat is a steal of a deal and could not be happier with it!

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Gem

Too light for Iowa cold winters. I’ll go back to 800 full jacket. One definitely would need to layer which then would make the coat too tight
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Looks and feels like down

I have a couple lightweight packable shells that are my go-to jackets for travel. This jacket is a great addition. I'm not sure I will like the hood so much, but the jacket is great. It is light and shaped, so it fits a little closer to my body than my previous favorite, a hoodless jacket from Mountain Hardware (a great jacket that has traveled the world). The Marmot looks like a down puffer jacket. I am 5'8" 150 pounds and am athletic, the large is just right and leaves enough room for a couple layers (shirt and light sweater). The jacket is warm and the sleeves are nice and long (the elastic wrist keeps it above my hands, but it is easy to pull down for coverage). The hood does not have a cinch, but is shaped and if you zip up the zipper fully, the hood is secure (and has a short brim). The pockets are zippered and there is a zippered chest pocket. The berry color is really nice (not as bright as the acid yellow Mt. Hardware jacket, but much more my style).
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Cozy jacket!

I am in love with this. I ordered the XS and it's perfect. (I'm 5'2", 115 lbs)
It's not too puffy, but yet, it's super warm. The color is gorgeous!

My two complaints are small ones, so I still gave it 5 stars.
    1) I wish it had an interior pocket to keep the electronics warm. Likely we're wearing this jacket on super cold days, and I feel it was a huge oversight in design.
    2) There's no hanging loop for the jacket, so you have to hang it by the hood if using hooks. Again, minor, but irritating.

I love it. Suuuuper cozy, warm, and fits really well! The sleeves are a bit long as some people have mentioned- but really, not a huge deal and keeps your hands warmer :).

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
