5.0 out of 5 stars. Really, really lovely

I live in Australia and wanted a jacket that wasn't for frigid climates, but was still warm enough and looked nice enough to wear to work. I have a Marmot down coat that I never wear since moving here so a soft shell seemed perfect. After reading the reviews I decided to go up a size for layering potential (I'm usually a solid medium and went for the large). I'm really glad I did. (My other Marmot medium fits kind of snugly, I guess that's the way they are). The shell is fairly thin (which is what I wanted) and there is enough room to layer a sweater underneath if it's really cold, but the jacket still has a really flattering shape, even in the larger size. It's long enough to cover the rear too, and the hood is VERY soft. The olive color is really beautiful too. The ONLY thing I might change would be to have the hood detachable, as its thickness won't always be in line with wearing the jacket into spring, which I plan to. I was nervous as returning things from here is really difficult and expensive, but I won't have to. Yay!

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Perfection!

I bought this jacket in the vest version several years ago, and I was ecstatic to see it here in the long-sleeved version! Very high-quality, durable materials. The outer shell is rain- repellent, I've never had rain soak through.....the hood is very generously-sized, the faux fur is not the kind that will get all matted and ugly in a few years. The vest I bought with the same faux fur looks as good as it did the day I bought it! (People sometimes ask me if the fur is real, actually.)
The inner lining is soft and velvet-like, very warm. The cut and fit is very flattering. Can't go wrong with this jacket.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Soft Shell Plus

I bought this for my wife and she loves it. The soft shell material seems to be relatively durable - standard Marmot. The faux fur hood is very soft. The only thing that was strange was the sizing. My wife (5'6'', 115) usually wears an XS, but it was too small and we sent the first order back. The S we got in return fits more like a standard Marmot soft shell and allows for a thin inner layer.

This jacket is perfect for pnw weather. It is very comfortable and provides the perfect warmth for our mild, wet weather. I love it and have gotten several compliments on it as well! I want another one in another color now!

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
