For starters they burn intensely. They're hot enough to catch just about any tinder on fire. Second, there in a waterproof container. Third, the container is extraordinary really sturdy. It's built to withstand being dropped kicked sad on and most importantly rained on.if all of those reasons aren't good enough, consider that Sierra has them priced at about a third of what it would cost you to buy them at a local outfitter. Don't hesitate just order a pack or two or three.

Be sure to strike with good ventilation. If your using it to start your stove in a vestablue then be absolutely sure to unzip the vestablue for air circulation.

These matches saved the day --- worked flawlessly even in driving wind. These are now essential equipment on all our mountain trips.

I called to find out why shipping was taking so long and apparently somehow this item got "tied up" in the system/warehouse for awhile. STP had to send them separately from the rest of my order and they took 12 days to get here (TN)!! In the four or five years as an STP customer, that's the first hiccup they've ever had. With that said, customer service was great and honest.
