The tongue also opens wide enough to easily slip on the shoes, which matters to me. I don't like to fight to get my shoes on. They are true to size. I wear these to work, and they seem very durable so far.

Seems to be exactly that. Very comfortable and supportive. Have not yet tried an insert, but might not need one with this shoe as Merrells generally seem to have better arch support than many other brands.
