5.0 out of 5 stars. Love this jacket

I originally ordered the XS based on the sizing on the website. It was a little small if I wanted to put other layers under it. I exchanged it for the S and I love it. It's a great weight - it's more than a shell but not bulky. It's very warm and has been the perfect jacket for all the snow and cold weather we have been having in Colorado. I have used the hood repeatedly already. I highly recommend for skiing, cold and/or wet weather.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Exactly what I wanted

I wanted a waterproof shell with room to add my own layers (according to weather/activity needs). I like that the jacket isn't fitted as this gives room for these layers. I love the red color. The jacket is well made right up to the collar and hood which stays in place w/o a helmet. Looking forward to using this on fall walks and on the slopes. It'll be very adaptable and perfect!

The jacket is shorter than I wanted as a ski jacket. If I go one size up, it's too baggy.

I know that the trend is for lighter jackets, but I have been caught in some unexpected weather and prefer a more substantial shell. This is a great classic cross-country ski coat. You can layer underneath it. It has good pockets and a blizzard worthy hood. It would also be a great spring downhill coat. I love the bright red color for visibility.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
