5.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent - Works As Warm Liner for Columbia Interchange JacketsReviewed by WisGuy from Packerland on Wednesday, October 29, 2014This is an excellent lightweight jacket that can stand on its own, I would imagine down to about 5-10 degrees with a sweater on underneath, or as a warm liner for one of Columbia's 3-in-in Interchange jackets. I got tired of shivering below 10-15 degrees wearing my Interchange jacket with only the fleece liner jacket in it the past two seasons so I contacted Columbia, they confirmed that the Shimmer jackets have compatible zippers, so I ordered this one in the dark gray color that perfectly matches my navy and gray outer Interchange shell. It has the sleeve and collar loops to retain in the shell and does in fact zip perfectly into the shell's zipper, just as well as the original liner. Although it is quite warm and I suspect will extend the useable range of the Interchange system down to at least -10*F, it does not look any bulkier zipped into the Interchange shell than with the original fleece liner.
The jacket looks good in person, better than in the photos and while I doubted I'd use it for anything other than a liner when I ordered it, after trying it on, I like how it looks by itself and I will be using it as a solo jacket until it gets cold enough to zip it into the Interchange shell. It is pretty generously sized (I wear a size 46 sport coat) but not bulky. The outer shell is quite thin and does not seem like it would fare well being brushed too close to a thorn bush or barbed wire fence, but does seem fairly water repellent. The inner liner is quite cool looking, with a very shiny metallic gun metal color reflective fabric that is much softer to the touch than it appears. Hand pockets have very warm, soft liners. Comes with an inner chest pocket, but unfortunately, not an outer Napoleon/chest pocket that would be most handy for carrying a cell phone.
Overall, it's a very good jacket and with a price hovering slightly above a half c-note with 40% off coupon, it is an outstanding value. -

4.0 out of 5 stars. Disco fabVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from MT on Sunday, April 27, 2014There's no doubt the omni heat interior resembles a disco ball or tin foil, alien-avoidance system. But it is very warm for its weight and sheds light moisture well. I deduct one star personally as I really miss a chest pocket and the boxy fit is sort of iffy for me, like always feel in between sizes. Columbia just often fits me like this. I'm an average build and the torso has a ton of room. If you like athletic, trim cuts you will swim in this. Thus for me, there's no way I could wear anything over this. I might have tried a size down if they had it in this just to see but at the same time I can't really say it's the wrong size..Just boxy. The inner cuffs are nice and not tight at all. Kind of need them as there is no adjustment on the main cuff. Zippers work well and hand pockets are lined and comfy, as is the collar. Outer material is not crazy shiny like many of these kinds of jackets, so that's good for my taste. The dark green is more matte finish than the other colors.

This jacket is very light and not bulky at all. Keeps me warm in the 20 degree weather we have been experiencing. I would recommend this product.

2.0 out of 5 stars. Large and boxy fitReviewed by Marcie from Michigan on Monday, March 3, 2014Returned after ordering two separate jackets for my 2XL husband to try on (both from Columbia). This jacket tended to have a shorter and more boxy fit than the other jacket so back it went. My husband is not a thin man so this runs quite large around the torso. The green color was darker and more grey green than appears on the web site also.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Probably the best jacket I've ever hadReviewed by Kevin F from Raleigh, NC on Friday, February 28, 2014I had a nice mtn hardwear shell that I wore for years. It was great but didn't keep me warm without extra layers. I had heard good things about the Omni-heat and the reviews had me interested. I decided to give this jacket a try. By far this is the most comfortable jacket I've worn in years. It keeps you very warm from the instant you put it on. It's really been put to the test this week. The highs have been in the low 40's and I haven't felt as cold as I did with my other jacket even without adding layers underneath. The jacket isn't puffy either like other insulated jackets. The color is very fashionable. I've gotten several compliments on the jacket. I'm very happy with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Good jacketReviewed by Ela3t from Virginia on Wednesday, February 26, 2014I bought this jacket for my husband because he really needed one but would never admit it. He insisted on wearing a whole bunch of sweaters instead and then complaining about the cold lol. Anyway, this is a good functional jacket, it is warm and lightweight and my husband has even described it as 'very useful'. It's not flashy or particularly stylish (though I guess you could call the shiny inner liner flashy, that's always a surprise to see). This jacket is the kind of clothing item that blends in which is just what I was hoping for.
I ordered a Large which fits well with room for some bulky layers underneath. It is for someone 6' tall who is always trapped between sizes Med and Large. (On him a Med is usually tight in shoulders, while a large is tent like around midriff). The large jacket we have is a little loose around his middle but it is an acceptable amount for outerwear.
I would recommend this jacket for someone who wants that is easy and functional. Because of its light weight it would by useful for cold weather backpacking or maybe as a belay jacket. It is also great just for wearing around town and shoveling snow.
