5.0 out of 5 stars. Great for kidsReviewed by Andy from Northern AZ on Friday, July 14, 2017I typically don't write reviews for items that cost a buck or two but the 2 previous reviews I believe are unfair in what they were expecting (especially at this price). These are a cheap 1 or 2 camping trip item that my two boys love to whittle on and create kindling pieces to start the fire (which it does well). If you are thinking of buying this it is for an hour or so of fun for your kid and also good for its intended use of creating shavings in the backcountry. Would I pay $6-$7, no, but at $1.50 you can't go wrong.

2.0 out of 5 stars. would not purchase againVerified Buyer Reviewed by WJVT from VT on Wednesday, October 8, 2014I purchased this for my son who likes to try to start a fire when camping without matches, just for fun. It is just ok but will certainly keep him busy and he will have fun with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Nice item but overpriced.Reviewed by MrMMG from NY on Tuesday, March 18, 2014The wood definitely burns well, but for $5 more you can get a bundle of wood, and make your own tinder. The listing stated the item was 6.75" but the item was less than 6.25", perhaps there are variations.
