5.0 out of 5 stars. A high loft vest

I purchased a medium which is closer to my body
this means there no gaps between my body and the vest
Very high insulation and it makes it less puffy
It becomes a stand alone garment as it is too puffy to go under a shell
But goes well over a very thin wind jacket or work shirt
The collar is a material (not the nylon of the vest) so it keeps clean
The drawcord at the bottom also keeps air out
Great warm pockets
Yes I recommend this and another Marmot winner

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice and puffy.

Just an all-round traditional warm down vest. Zip pockets are a plus for me because I keep losing stuff--they don't have to be the size of the grand canyon. The neck area keeps the body warmth in and doesn't seem to constricting. The bright color is nice for being noticed during activities so as to not get hit by a car.

Two underlayers do the trick for cold weather outings.

Love this vest for car camping, lounging by the campfire, jamming with buddies in the loft of a cold barn. It's true to size but it's a little too bulky for backpacking. For that, I like the Zeus, which is much more packable.

This vest is packed with down. Its really really warm. Its really puffy too. If you like a slim fit, this is not your jam. You will look like the stay puft marshmallow man but you will be super warm.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
