Gotta love Marmot. I have several down coats including a patagonia ultra light and an older rei puffer jacket with a polyester shell. Was looking for something warmer than the ultra light and more packable than the puffer while still providing extra warmth. while i haven't had a chance to wear this jacket in cold weather, it does loft up pretty well which usually translates into warm. I like the exterior fabric as it's not too shiny nor too bulky and so it packs down incredibly small, however it's not so thin that it doesn't look like it's going to wear well and be pretty durable. for $120 this is an incredible buy as it would be well worth twice that...thanks STP - you guys still rock. I've been a customer for over 20 years and while don't care for your new return policy, the products, pricing and customer service keep bringing me back (much to the dismay of my wife)

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
