For the price, this is a solid headlamp for the outdoors from a reliable renown brand. It’s not technically advanced but offers everything you realistically need for a great price. The output color is ideal and levels are useful. At 300 lumens on max, it’s bright and the wide beam is good for most uses. The red light is also a nice feature to preserve night vision and lower disturbance to others. The headlamp has Petzl’s simple and classic design that is durable and easy to use. The glow in the dark accent is also neat and useful.

The downsides are that this headlamp is outperformed by others with more features and better runtimes. The beam of this Tikka is a wide flood so it’s not great for distance lighting. The headband is also a bit small. I’m almost maxed out on adjustment to wear it. I wear an L/XL hat.

Overall, it’s a solid headlamp for a good price on Sierra. If you want a simple, reliable headlamp of quality for a low price, this is a good one. For more demanding and technical users, you’ll likely be more impressed with other units that cost more but offer more features.

Recently purchased these for an ice climbing class. Very supple on first use. Like the diameter for leading ice and rock. We will also use these for glacier and snow travel classes.

Overall the headlamp seems to be fine, but don’t buy from Sierra. The ones Sierra sent me had batteries included in them that had exploded and created a nasty white dust that was all over inside the package and headlamp. You could see the dust through the clear packaging, so not something Sierra should be shipping to its customers regardless of the discount. I bought five of these and they all had the same issue.
