My issue was mis-fit at the ankle height. Just not comfortable for me, and frankly, I was looking for a better sale price. I found something else that worked for me at a price I wanted, so returned these. Excellent winter shoe, though.

I have 4 pairs of Merrell shoes (none are boots)all in a size 10M. These in a 10M were way too big. Even thick socks didn't help. I was super bummed because they had a nice profile and flat heal with a roomy toe box. The Java color was a beautiful chocolate pebble leather. SAD ;-(

The ankle part rubbed for a couple of days but only on one side and that didn't last. I wore a Band-Aid until they were broken in. No regrets on buying these boots.
